What is shipped and what is coming

Vowen checks for a new version when it starts, and every 6 hours after that. The check runs inside the app itself, so Vowen has to be running for it to happen. There is no background updater service. When a new version is available you will see an update banner in the settings window. If you are mid-recording, a small update pill appears on the recording indicator instead. Updates are not installed silently. The banner shows what is in the release, and you decide when to download and apply it.1

Download
Click the banner to start the download. You can keep using Vowen while it downloads in the
background.

Restart to install
When the download completes, the banner updates with a restart prompt. Restart Vowen to apply
the new version.
Dismissing the banner hides it for 24 hours, then it comes back if you are still on the old
version. The 24 hours is the snooze, not the check interval.
What’s New after an update
After Vowen restarts on a new version, a “What’s New” modal highlights the changes in that release. Older versions stay available in the modal’s archive, and the full history is on the changelog.Have an update question that isn’t answered here? See the Updates FAQ.
